FULL SWING PRACTICE - IMPACT
Impact is the position when you return the club head back to the ball. This is arguably the most important aspect of the golf swing, “the moment of truth”. PGA Tour pro’s may get their in different ways, but they all strike the ball consistently solid. Note: there are slight differences between irons and woods when it comes to impacting it.
Below are a few key points that describe the proper impact position in the full swing.
- Hips and shoulders open (shoulders less open than hips)
- Hand position slightly ahead of ball and club head
- You should feel most of your pressure on your left heel (for right handers)
- Your left hear (right handers) should be over the ball with irons and behind ball with driver
