Golfers can simplify their golf swing by focusing on these key swing positions You don’t have to be perfect!
KEY POINTS
- You don't have to have perfect swing positions, error in key positions that are easier to play from.
- Use your body as efficiently as you can, match your club face position at top of swing to how aggressively you can swing with your body while in balance on downswing
- Take away sets the stage for the swing (after set up)
- STEEP TO SHALLOW SWING PATTERN
- Tension creates a lot of issues in your swing. Relaxed grip pressure, and smooth transition top of swing to downswing.
- Hold a balanced finish and this will create balance throughout the swing
- The ball will get in the way of the club if you make a good body turn with relaxed arms
Swing Positions, Step-By-Step
- SET UP FOR SUCCESS
- Take away, one piece take away with club head outside hands
- Backswing - arm parallel to ground, shaft angle points inside golf ball (steep)
- Top of swing - transition, arms are connected to body turn with flat wrist. Relax the arms, allow your body turn to bring club to impact position (requires a lot of trust)
- Downswing - when arm parallel to ground, shaft is pointing outside golf ball (shallow)
- Rotate body as aggressively as you can on downswing, with soft arms and passive hands.
- Hold a balanced finish and this will create balance throughout the swing
